Paleo

The Paleo diet emphasizes foods presumed to have been available to humans in the Paleolithic era: meat, fish, eggs, vegetables, fruits, nuts, and seeds. It excludes grains, legumes, dairy, refined sugar, and most processed foods.

Why It Matters

Paleo-friendly protein options are limited because the most common protein powders (whey, casein) are dairy and most plant powders (pea, soy) come from legumes. Beef protein isolate, egg white protein, and collagen peptides are the typical Paleo-compatible choices.

Strict Paleo adherents also avoid soy lecithin, artificial sweeteners, and gum thickeners. Choose minimalist powders with short ingredient decks and natural sweeteners like stevia or monk fruit if you want to stay aligned.

How to Spot It on a Label

Look for Paleo, Paleo-friendly, or Certified Paleo on the front of the tub. Check the deck for any disqualifying ingredients (dairy whey, soy lecithin, artificial sweeteners, maltodextrin, gum thickeners).
