Certificate of Analysis
A Certificate of Analysis (COA) is a lab document that confirms a specific batch of protein powder or supplement was tested for content, purity, and contaminants. Reputable brands publish COAs on their websites or supply them on request.
Why It Matters
Without a COA, label claims are unverified. A COA confirms that the product actually contains the listed protein per serving, is free of banned substances, and falls within safe limits for heavy metals, microbial contamination, and other contaminants.
Premium brands often publish COAs by batch number, letting consumers verify the exact tub they purchased. Mainstream brands typically supply COAs to retailers and on request. Avoid any brand that refuses to share documentation.
How to Spot It on a Label
COAs are not printed on the product itself but are referenced in marketing copy and third-party-tested badges. Look for batch number on the bottom of the tub and check the brand's website to find the matching COA.
